  13. Java Runtime Environment

  16. In order to run MagicMapper, you have to have Java Runtime Environment (JRE )
  17. verion 1.1 or higher installed on your machine. It is strongly recommended that 
  18. you install the latest JRE (jre1.1.6 as of May 18, 1998 ). You may have installed
  19. JRE already as part of the MagicMapper installation. If not, you can download the
  20. lastest JRE from http://www.javasoft.com/products

  27. 1. Easier

  29. MagicMapper 1.1 is easier to use than Version 1.0. Things that 
  30. users used to have to do manually in the previous version are now 
  31. handled through the applet generation wizard. For instance, users can
  32. change the size of the applet, the location of the applet, and choose
  33. a site map template through the applet generation wizard.

  35. 2. More powerful

  37. The applet generation wizard provides more customization options such as 
  38. background image, tree branch color, mouse-over color, selection background 
  39. and foreground colors, etc.

  43. MagicMapper 1.1 also gives a user more icons and background images.

  47. Known Issues and Limitations

  51. 1.  MagicMapper cannot access links embedded in server-side image maps.

  53. 2.  Currently, MagicMapper does not support SSL (https). However, we are
  54.     working on this issue, and it should be available in the next major
  55.     release.

  57. 3.  MagicMapper does not support Javascript
  58.  
  59. 4.  If MagicMapper is installed in a different directory than the 
  60.     previous installation directory, the user will not be able to read
  61.     previous generated site profiles.

  63.     To work around this bug, please copy all of the contents 
  64.     in the "data\project" directory under the previous installation directory to
  65.     the "data\project" directory under the new installation directory.

  68. 5.  On rare occasions, when a user hit "Stop" to stop parsing webpages, 
  69.     the program does not stop parsing even the UI has indicated so.
